Oli Lawrence Eventing

My name's Oli Lawrence.  A 19 year old event rider.  I'm currently at Cambridge university and this website tells my story as I attempt to juggle eventing and academia.   The good bits, the ugly bits, the bits that make you laugh and bits that might even make you cry... 

Unlike many other eventers I do not come from a horse based back ground - both my parents would have been rather surprised if they'd have known what was coming for them when I was born! However, rather than making me an outsider this gives me a huge advantage.  Everything I have learnt I've had to learn myself and seek help myself meaning I can choose my own route and pick and choose the best advice leading to an innovative and modern setup and a team not afraid to learn and develop from others, which looks forwards to the future open mindedly and anticipates the excitement, hurdles and success it will bring.
